J the A – Artist Spotlight

Incredible Hip Hop/ Rap Artist Jay the A is back after his big success ”Realist” to impress us once again with a new fresh and motivational ”Forever Flowing”

The song feels like a cheerful anthem to lift up the spirits and just play on repeat throughout the day. I love the instrumental, the motivation and passion his voice reflects and how it grows into an awesome hit in a progressive way.

From a clear rap voice leading the song to the big changes the beat and the lyrics bring into this sound, I’m honestly mesmerised by how good ”Forever Flowing” sounds!

But who is him?

J the A (James Standing) grew up in a town in Greater Manchester Stockport, UK. Father passed away at a young age leaving the family struggling to cover the costs of living. Growing up being the poorest of his friends grew this motivated him to do whatever it took to complete the classic rags to riches story, working lots of overtime hours at a part-time job whilst also trying to get good grades at college in order to give himself the best opportunities. Seeing struggle as he grew up gave him the drive to do whatever it took in order to make money and create a better life. J the A had always been creative, making logos, trailers, short films and so on throughout childhood, and then going on to make a gaming youtube channel which would net over 50,000 views in a few years, all the editing and content did himself. However, this didn’t generate any money and was done as a hobby. J the A had always been a fan of rap music, starting off listening to the likes of Eminem and logic when they first broke onto the scene, then migrating to a big fan of the UK rap and early grime scene. This passion for listening to rap music for hours every single day then sparked an interest for trying writing for himself, at first it was just odd 2 or 4 bars here and there which he wrote down on note pads or the note page on his phone. J the A’s favourite rapper for many years was Juice Wrld who he admired for his amazing freestyle ability, this inspired J the A to begin freestyling himself just for fun. It wasn’t until hearing the news of Juice Wrld passing that J the A wrote a considerable piece of music, after hearing the news of his favourite rapper passing, he wrote a 16 bar to one of his beats in a way to honour Juice Wrld but also to express his feelings. J the A was inspired by aitch as he showed that a local boy with hard work could achieve great things.

For those of you who didn’t listen to ”Forever Flowing” yet, you can find the song here as well.

I love how he keeps reinventing his sound, bringing something different to the table and keeping his music interesting, fresh and full of surprises for the listener.
